Why is the International Student Union Conference in Malmö taking place?

In light of the vital role that students play in tackling the numerous global challenges of the day, there exists a need for platforms to assist in their development and grooming. Student unions have often been instrumental in catering to the various extra-curricular needs of students, as well as training its members on the tenets of leadership and cooperation. With the plethora of student unions that exist throughout the world – each with its own unique mode of operations – there should be a greater emphasis on collaboration. Such collaborations could be beneficial in augmenting the dynamics within each union’s operations as well as highlighting common goals and issues that could be resolved through a unified effort.

When is the Conference taking place?

What is the Conference’s Aim?

It aims to establish a large communion where Unions have the possibility to present and discuss various ideas and issues.

We hope that the conference will forge a more unified and systematic basis for Unions to lobby for and implement the importance of students on the political agenda. The purpose of the international Student Union Conference is not only to uphold the importance of today’s youth, but also to bring about interconnectivity and cooperation that will aid in the improvement of student unions – as the bridging factor between education and leadership. Furthermore, with consideration to the numerous nationalities that will be participating in the event, the conference will increase awareness of other cultures and further develop a sense of acceptance and understanding of diversity.

What will be the outcome?

The conference will produce a Manifesto on Education and Student Influence addressed to the governments all around the globe. The Manifesto will be the compilation of the selected through voting students’ proposals that can be used to improve the quality of education and enhance student influence. The goal behind this manifesto is to assert a set of common goals that governments should strive towards in order to improve the well-being of education and youth alike.
